Our main impression will be of a Confederate Signal Corps Detachment assigned to the Army of Tennessee. Our other impression will be of a Western Theater Federal Signal Corps Detachment

NOTE: Any new member just entering the unit is strongly advised to get the advice of an Officer, NCO, or veteran private before purchasing any items for use in their impression. It should be the objective of any living historian / re-enactor to strive to present an accurate, true to life portrayal of their subject.

Confederate Uniform

HAT:  Headgear will be a Kepi/Forage cap or a slouch. The use of Federal forage caps is acceptable. Slouch hats will be of the correct style and color. No converted cowboy hats or fedoras.

SHELL JACKETS:  Shell jackets should be of the following patterns:

Columbus Depot, Type I or II
Department of Alabama
Any plain commutation jacket

All jackets will be made of the correct material and be of the correct pattern

SHIRTS:  Shirts will be of the proper pull over pattern and material, preferably of homespun.

TROUSERS:  Trousers will be of the correct civilian or military pattern. The use of Federal Sky Blue trousers can be used for the first year, but would prefer not using them with your confederate impression.  The material should be of the proper wool/cotton jean cloth.

BELTS: Belts will be leather or painted canvas, with the proper belt plates. Oval C.S. plates similar to the U.S. plates are not to be worn.

SHOES:  Shoes will be of the proper Jefferson brogan type commercially available. No cowboy, work, Wellington, hiking, or combat boots are to be worn.

Federal Uniform

HAT:  Federal Kepi/Forage cap or a Black Slouch Hat. Slouch hats will be of the correct style and color. No converted cowboy hats or fedoras.

JACKETS:  Federal 4 button Sack Coat, using federal eagle buttons and either lined or unlined.

SHIRTS: Shirts will be of the proper pull over pattern and material, preferably of homespun.

TROUSERS:  Sky-blue Federal Trousers.

BELTS:  Black Leather Belt with oval U.S. belt plate.

SHOES:  Shoes will be of the proper Jefferson brogan type commercially available. No cowboy, work, Wellington, hiking, or combat boots are to be worn.

Other Items that are used for both impressions

CANTEEN: A "Bullseye" or Smoothside canteen uncovered or covered with a brown, gray, or gray/brown jeancloth cover. Also should have either a leather or cotton strap.

HAVERSACK:  A tarred haversack used to carry food items, coffee, and utensils. For your Confederate impression you can carry either a tarred or un-tarred haversack, but the tarred keeps your items dryer.
