Each member of the Red River Signal Corps Detachment must follow these Rules and
Regulations at all times, for your safety and everyone else's safety.
These include rules and regulations regarding to weapons, if for some scenario
we do use weapons these do apply.
Rules and Regulations of the
Red River Signal Corps Detachment
Below are the general rules and regulations for the Red River
Signal Corps Detachment. Any member who violates any section or part of the
rules may receive disciplinary action or dismissal. No member shall be dismissed
from the Detachment except by recommendation of the Lieutenant and by order of
the Detachment Captain.
The term "member" refers to individuals who have paid
dues to the Detachment or who are participating in a drill or reenactment with
the RRSCD.
General Rules of Participation:

Members shall obey the orders and commands of the officers
and NCO's appointed over them.

Proper military courtesy shall be observed at all times in
the field.

Roll call at drill/school sessions and at events are
mandatory.

Report to the 1st Sgt. upon arrival at an event, if they
have not arrived advise them when they do arrive.

Do not leave camp for any reason without notifying an NCO.

Members should follow the instructions of the officers and
NCO's of the RRSCD only, unless otherwise notified.

No one under 16 years of age will be allowed to carry any
weapon (if needed), and if under 18 they will have have to have a signed
parental release.

Active members of the RRSCD will participate in at least 4
drills/schools a year and at least 2 events a year.
General Rules for Safety:
- Any member of the detachment can command the group to stop firing if a
dangerous situation arises that the officers do not see.
- Do not take a hit with a loaded weapon.
- Never draw a rammer on the field.
- No member will participate, in any action, without a full canteen of
water.
- No weapons will be discharged without clearance from a 1st Sgt. or above.
The 1st Sgt. will be responsible for warning the others in the camp and
spectators.
- No member will engage in hand-to-hand combat on the field. Unless
pre-arranged.
- All muskets carried (if used for a specific scenario) will be "three
banded" percussion type muskets.
- No loose powder will be carried at an event. All cartridges should be
wrapped correctly without the use of glue, tape or staples.
- If carried, all cartridge boxes will have tins to store rounds.
- ABSOLUTELY NO LIVE ROUNDS WILL BE CARRIED TO AN EVENT BY ANY MEMBER.
Violation of this rule will result in immediate dismissal from the unit.
- NO modern weapons will be carried to/at any event.
- Drunkenness, substance abuse, or possession of controlled substances will
not be tolerated, and will lead to dismissal from the unit.
- No swords or other edged weapons shall be carried by privates or
corporals, but the Officers and senior NCO's may carry the appropriate
period sabers.
- All members will go through an inspection before being assigned to the
field, canteens will be checked, signal equipment will be checked, and any
weapons will be thoroughly checked.
General Rules of Authenticity:
- Members' uniforms and equipment will conform to the guidelines of the Detachment,
and items not authorized by these guidelines will not be allowed.
- Any member who has not met the authenticity guidelines (including proper
head gear, shoes, and glasses) after 1 year of service will not be
allowed to participate in events until the guidelines are met.
- All non-period items should be kept out of sight at all times.
- Modern flannel shirts, Dockers, jeans, suspenders or other modern clothing
shall not be substituted for authentic attire, accept by new recruits but
only when necessary.
- Members must remain in period attire, at all times, while in camp.
- Members should take care to purchase items from recommended sutlers or to
seek the approval of their officers before buying uniforms and equipment.
The officers of the RRSCD reserve the right to not allow inferior or
incorrect gear purchased from an un-authorized sutler.
